The fallen Hero! 18th.Dec.1961 - War for control of Goa and Daman
Yes, He was the one executed at the airport on the 18th.of Dec 1961.3 years later my grandfather, father, Antonio Luis, Caetano Noronhaand self, with a few workhands (dublas), excavated his body. The way he was dumped is indeed, horrific.
It was then that some locals approached us ( I vividly recall it) and went to a graphic details of the manner he was brutally done away with. It seems he was in his 'trinxeira' at the airport. Dully outnumbered, they were ambushed. Unfortunately, a bullet hit his left leg, making it impossible for him to escape. They rushed upon him with boyonet flashing, repeatedly kicked him, hit him with the butt of their rifles, and as the villagers said, burried him alive.
His remains were later re-burried in our Big Daman Cementrty. It's a black granite tombstone, towards the right side of the chapel. The remains of my dad and mum is in the same tomb. May their soul rest in peace. AMEN!
